Dot Day!

For this activity, we start by reading the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds. I used coffee filters, crayons, watercolors, and oil pastels to create my dot. The smiling face that was drawn was a white crayon. I drew the face first, and then I added yellow and green lines using crayons/oil crayons. After that, I used orange, green, and red for the watercolor. This activity was fun!

Extension: Dot-Inspired Writing
  • Have students write a story or a poem inspired by their dot artwork. This integrates literacy with art and encourages students to express their thoughts and creativity through writing.
  • Materials: Paper and pencils
