Paper-Cutting

Description: We explored Mexican and Spanish culture, focusing on the Day of the Dead. After learning about the colors of the flag, we were introduced to various colors of tissue paper. We then had the opportunity to design our own flags using different patterns and shapes. Examples were provided on how to cut the tissue paper by folding it into five sections. The resulting cuts were beautifully intricate.


Extension Activity: Learning about the history of the Day of the Dead. To understand the historical and cultural significance of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and its evolution over time.

Description : Students will create a design inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's stained glass. They will begin with a blank sheet of paper, folding it into fourths to develop four designs in pencil. For this assignment, the students went on a scavenger hunt using their phones or other devices to capture elements and principles of daily life. Twelve photos were captured for elements and principles of art.  Elements of Art Line Principle of Art Emphasis Principle of Art Balance Principle of Art Movement Element of Art Color    Extension:  Elements and Principles Art Stations Materials: Art supplies (paper, markers, crayons, paints, etc.). Activity: Explain: Review the elements and principles of art with students. Stations: Set up different stations, each focused on one element or principle. Rotate: Students rotate through stations and complete short activities. Discuss: Reflect on what they learned. This activity provides hands-on experience and understanding of art concepts.
